There is no known cure for this disease thus could result in permanent damage to your nerve cells. There are several symptoms caused by Multiple cases of sclerosis or MS and they are tiredness, weak muscles, numbness, vision issues, sexual problems, etc.

More than 2.3 million adults are suffering from this chronic condition and when compared with men, women are mostly affected by this in huge numbers. Since there is no cure for this disease, all that you could do is reduce its symptoms. These symptoms may vary depending on the person’s health condition and stability. In some cases, people with MS have slight symptoms, while on the other hand, some people get adverse symptoms that cause various disabilities.

A major symptom of Multiple sclerosis is fatigue or drowsiness and according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), it is said that more than 80% of people who are affected by this chronic condition are suffering from fatigue. This makes it difficult for people to do their daily chores. Another major symptom is difficulty while walking which can be because of the numb feeling in your legs, balancing issues, weak muscles, or even because of vision issues. All these can be caused by this illness.

There is a high chance of vision problems in people with MS disorder and this may affect both eyes in some cases. Other vision issues associated with this disease are optic neuritis, diplopia, nystagmus, and even blindness. This could even affect your speech and cause dysarthria, cause cognitive dysfunctions like concentration, focus, memory power also will affect the quality of your sleep.

Due to the lack of known cures for this disease, many types of research are still carried out by many top universities to find permanent relief from MS. And a recent study has found that ketogenic diets could be beneficial for people suffering from Multiple sclerosis. A ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that has several benefits in improving human health.

Usually, this diet is followed by people as a weight loss solution and even is helpful in diabetes, cancer, and such health ailments. The main reason behind including a keto diet is to reduce the level of carbs and glucose in your body so that it will produce ketones which is an essential fuel that increases the energy level more than what carbs and glucose provide. From some studies, it is scientifically proven that ketones are capable of regenerating demyelinated nerves and also aids in reducing inflammation.

This latest study included 65 participants who were suffering from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis(RRMS) and were asked to follow the ketogenic diet plan for 6 months. The researchers have recorded the health condition of the participants before and after the study to check the changes from the study. Several tests were also conducted to check how densely MS has affected every individual participant. According to the lead author of the study, Dr. J. Nicholas Brenton, director of the Paediatric and Young Adult MS, University of Virginia, the participants were asked to reduce their carb intake and consume more healthy fat. The changes were monitored by a regular urine test that shows the ketone levels which helps burn fats for energy.

This study has shown a considerable reduction in the level of fatigue and mental disorders in the participants after following this diet for 6 months. It not only reduces depression and stress but also has increased the participants’ quality of life. Also, the ketogenic diet has reduced inflammation and body fat in the participants thus providing them with several health benefits along with reducing the symptoms caused by Multiple sclerosis.
