Talking about the UK, there are many of the NHS that have weight loss treatments available but due to long waiting lists and costly private healthcare procedures, people tend to go abroad, leading to more deaths. One of the most common procedures that people tend to choose is gastric bypass for weight loss.
Gastric bypass surgery is a life-changing procedure that has helped countless people regain control of their health and transform their lives. For those struggling with obesity, gastric bypass can be a powerful tool for achieving long-term weight loss and improving overall health and well-being.
But gastric bypass is more than just a weight loss surgery. It can also have profound effects on a person’s physical and emotional health. Many patients report improvements in conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea, as well as a reduction in joint pain and other obesity-related health issues.
Beyond the physical benefits, gastric bypass can also lead to a profound sense of empowerment and self-confidence. For many people, the surgery represents a fresh start, a chance to take control of their health and make positive changes in their lives.
With the weight loss and improved health that comes with gastric bypass, many people find themselves able to do things they never thought possible, whether that’s pursuing a new hobby, traveling to new places, or simply enjoying the activities they love without the limitations that obesity can bring.
These treatments cost around 9500 pounds to 15,000 pounds in private sectors and Turkey is one of the cheaper alternatives at 2,000 pounds- hence people opt for the abroad option. One of the youngest patients was Joe Thornley who was just 25 years old and died of a cardiac arrest (although post-mortem confirmed it as internal bleeding).
The NHS guidelines are strict and make patients (potentials) go through a proper lifestyle change and regular checkups with changes- it will analyze all the diagnoses and related treatments before the procedure. Although reports suggest 22 British citizens died after the turkey procedure and the officials are working on the same medical tourism visa.Â
