The entertainment industry has received the shocking news of the sudden demise of Lisa Marie Presley, the sole daughter of Elvis Presley, who is known as the king of Rock and Roll music. The initial cause of her death is found to be a full cardiac arrest which happened on January 12 at her Los Angeles home, two days after the Golden Globe events.
Lisa Marie Presley was seen attending the Golden Globe Awards promoting the Biopic Elvis which is based on the life and career of her father. She died two days after the film had received the award for Best Actor category, for Austin Butler who portrayed the role of Elvis Presley in the movie.
According to the information from her close circles, she was on a rigorous weight loss diet before her death. She even lost 40-50 pounds within six weeks before the Golden Globe events. The sources related to her private circle say that she even had undergone plastic surgery to look well in the events at Golden Globe. Another disturbing news is the spread that states that Lisa was again under opioid usage before her death.
From many of the videos that showcase her on the red carpet, Lisa can be seen along with her talent manager, Jerry Schilling. Even though she talks to reporters such as Billy Bush of the Extra Entertainment channel, her speech is a bit unsteady and she can be seen holding the hands of her manager for support. Many of her fans now interpret this as evidence of her deteriorated physical state and an indication that she might be under drug usage at that time.
The 54-year-old singer and songwriter had a tumultuous relationship with drugs for a long time back. Lisa revealed that she started taking opioids when she was prescribed short-term painkillers after the delivery of her twin daughters, Harper and Finley in 2008. She revealed the complex relationship she had with drugs by writing the foreword for the book, The United States of Opioids by Harry Nelson in 2019. The opioid addiction crept upon her as Lisa had to confront many personal struggles which are evident from her short-lived relationships.
According to the director of this movie, Baz Luhrmann, Lisa was very much enthusiastic about the film and eager to know how the audience will take the movie which portrays the life of her father and the iconic singer, Elvis Presley. The movie bagged nominations for best director of a motion picture and best drama motion picture category along with getting the best actor award for Austin Butler. Lisa was thrilled about the recognition of the film which is evident from her interviews taken from the Red Carpet.
Lisa Marie Presley was laid to rest at Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee on 22nd January. She was put to rest aside from her father and son Benjamin Keough, who had died committing a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2020 when he was just 27 years old. The commemoration that followed the obituary of Lisa witnessed the performances by iconic singers such as Alanis Morissette, Billy Corgan, and the lead vocalist of Guns N’Roses, Axl Rose. The event witnessed heartfelt obituary messages shared by her eldest daughter Riley Keough and her mother Priscilla Presley.
