Pink Reveals Her Covid Weight Loss Secrets!
Pink has always been an evergreen sensation in the music industry with her energizing songs. The bold choices that she makes in her music reflect in her life too. In an interview with Molly Creeden of Women’s Health magazine, Pink revealed her post-Covid weight loss struggles.
According to her, it was during the pandemic, her health reached the zenith of deterioration. This situation reached its climax when she had to undergo back and hip pain surgery. The surgery made things worse and it accentuated inflammation in her body. It was at this point, the Grammy winner realized something was not okay with her life. Like always, the singer redirected her life towards a sense of determination and chose the path to health and recovery.
Pink revealed in the interview that she found the solution to all her problems at the SHA Wellness Clinic in Spain. Two weeks at this clinic rejuvenated her and recovered her body. The 43-year-old singer remembers the experience as one of a kind. For three years she hasn’t stayed away from her family. Not even for a night. This was an altogether new experience for her as she had to leave her family for two weeks and stay alone at the retreat.
During the time she spent at the SHA Wellness Clinic, the singer was subjected to a rigorous diet known as the Kushi diet. Being an anti-inflammatory diet, it encourages the intake of whole grains, vegetables, seaweed, etc. It is a macrobiotic diet and encourages mindful eating.
The diet also focuses on balancing the ingredients that one consumes. It is influenced by Zen philosophy. As in philosophy, a balance of Yin and Yang, the two basic pillars of universal harmony is sought in the eating style too.
According to the singer, she got to rest for the first time in her life. She remembers the experience as having a bed of her own. She also did meditation and journaling. The pandemic had a huge impact on her. It caused her many losses including the death of her father. The two weeks she spent at the SHA Wellness Clinic helped her to recover from these losses and it revitalized her.
The singer is following some of the diet practices even after returning home. It includes the consumption of miso soup for breakfast and adhering to mindful living.
Even though we can’t go for a two-week retreat to Spain for health recovery like Pink, we at least can understand some of the basics of the Kushi diet. As part of the diet, she drank two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with water after each meal. Some of the other rules of the diet are provided below:
- Incorporate 20%-30% whole grains into your diet such as wild rice, millet, barley, oats, spelt, corn, wheat, etc.
- Consume 30%-40% vegetables like Green leafy vegetables, Kale, Napa Cabbage, Root Vegetables, Daikon, Onion, etc.
- Add 5%-10% beans and legumes such as Chickpeas, Lentils, Tofu, Tempeh, Aduki, etc
- Consume Sea Vegetables such as Wakame, Dulse, Arame, Nori, Kombu, Hiziki, etc.
- Include locally grown seeds and fruits.
- Use a minimal amount of seasonings such as sea salt, soy sauce, miso, vinegar, etc.
